How I work Since each person is unique, my work varies depending on the person I am working with and their individual goals. I see you as already possessing the resources you need and my job is to help you to overcome blocks to your true self and to access your inner strengths. I look at the whole person and consider the interaction between mind, body and spirit. I see the relationship between therapist and client as being an important part of the healing process and as appropriate I draw on advanced training in the following modalities: Psychosynthesis: A psychotherapy theory that views both a person's higher unconscious (their potential for creativity and growth) and the lower unconscious (those things in a persons past that hold them back) as being important. Psychosynthesis recognizes that each individual has many conflicting parts and it is important to identify and understand each part and then work towards a synthesis of the parts into a greater whole. More information on Psychosynthesis Hypnosis: While often misunderstood as a gimmick which makes people cluck like chickens, this is simply a technique of inducing a relaxed state to help get past the conscious mind and more effectively work with the unconscious mind. This can be helpful in working with difficult pasts as well as overcoming habits, such as smoking. Learning self-hypnosis can also be very helpful to individuals experiencing anxiety and depression. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (Level 2): EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a technique that has been becoming more and more popular due to its' effectiveness in treating a variety of issues including:
EMDR uses either eye movement or other forms of stimulation under direction and guidance of a trained clinician to help reach desired goals. How it works is not known though there are various theories. The effectiveness of EMDR has been proven with numerous studies.
